Discuss the current issues that are particularly important to estate planners with the four members of the T&E Editorial Advisory Board:

Outstanding bills for estate and wealth tax
From Bernie Sanders’ “For the 99.5% Act” to Elizabeth Warren’s Ultra-Millionaire Tax Act, there are bills pending in Congress that directly affect estate planning. James Dougherty gives an overview of the outstanding invoices and what they mean for wealthy clients.

    Trusts and Millennials
The number of Millennials is estimated at 73 million, overtaking Baby Boomers as the largest adult segment of the US population. However, many existing trusts may not be designed to best suit Millennial beneficiaries and their desires. Al W. King III will discuss how these trusts can be reformed / modified or decanted so that their administrative aspects are tailored not only to the wishes of the grantor and grantor’s spouse, but also the millennial and other beneficiaries.

A Brief Guide to Special Purpose Acquisition Companies (SPACs)
SPACs have recently increased in both financial circles and popular culture. They offer customers the option of investing a relatively small amount of capital in sponsor stocks of a SPAC in order to get an interest in a vehicle that could potentially see explosive growth in the future, making that asset a good candidate for a wealth transfer. Todd Angkatavanich will provide an overview of SPACs and their role in estate planning.

Changes in the law that affect charitable causes
Proposed changes to tax laws can have a significant impact on philanthropic planning. Some of these changes include ending the $ 10,000 limit on state and local tax withholding, increasing estate and gift taxes, and decreasing exemption amounts. Robert Sharpe will discuss how some of these changes may require a re-evaluation of the gift planning vehicles.

CFP, CIMA®, CPWA® and AEP® CE credits have been applied for and have yet to be approved.
