British Gas is taking over Nabuh Energy’s 36,000 customers – here’s what you need to know

Under an agreement, British Gas will take over power from Nabuh Energy from Saturday April 27th, after the small supplier launched in 2017 was acquired by British Gas.

When you are with Nabuh Energy don’t worry – your supply will not be interrupted and British Gas says your tariff will stay the same after the transfer.

Nabuh Energy’s 36,000 customers will be among British Gas’s existing seven million energy customers, and Nabuh’s 70 employees will also move.

I am a Nabuh Energy customer. I have to do something?

You don’t have to do anything and your supply will not be interrupted – the Nabuh Energy brand will continue to operate as usual, so your tariff will not change and you will continue to manage your account as usual.

If you have a prepayment indicator, your existing top-up card or key will continue to work as usual. You can still top up in the same places – including a Payzone or Paypoint point of sale and the post office – as well as a debt settlement plan you have in place with Nabuh will stay the same.

When you are with Nabuh Energy you probably won’t notice any real changes as it mostly happens behind the scenes. You should still be able to log in to your online account as before, and your contact details will remain the same.

Am I being charged more for my energy?

British Gas has confirmed that it will comply with all of Nabuh Energy’s existing tariffs, so your tariffs and tariff terms will be the same.

I’m on credit, can I get that back?

If you are a customer of Nabuh Energy and your account is credited, keep this. Your account will continue to operate as before, so your balance will remain unchanged.

As always, you are free to cover future energy consumption or reclaim it under British Gas’s reimbursement rules.

I don’t want to switch to British Gas. Can i switch?

You can switch if you don’t want to be with British Gas. The supplier has stated that you can leave at any time without any withdrawal fees.

What does British Gas say?

Chris O’Shea, Managing Director of UK gas owner Centrica, said: “We are excited to welcome both Nabuh Energy customers and our new colleagues. This deal is part of our strategy to focus on and move into our core markets invest, and follows the acquisition of Robin Hood Energy’s customer base last year and more recently, Simplicity Energy.

“This is a really exciting time for British Gas as we seek to get the business back on track and put the customer at the center of everything we do by offering a competitive and innovative service.”
