Do you like to travel like me?

    from Hope

It won’t surprise the BAD audience that I like to travel. That’s probably the only thing I would never completely sacrifice on my debt settlement journey. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t travel extravagantly. I am economical and take advantage of all the offers and discounts I can find. With every app I collect and collect points for hotels everywhere.

And I’m usually the road trip queen. This was especially important with 5 children and a family that has always been a long way off … from Virginia to Georgia to Texas. Travel is just a part of our life. Even if I didn’t love it that much, it would be something we have to do.

But as the children have grown older and more independent, I am more and more tempted to travel alone. And because of things in my personal relationship, I’ve been doing a bit of that over the past month.

And guys, I have to share this with you guys …

You have to try Hopper! (This is not a sponsored or affiliate link)

I got round-trip tickets for only $ 30. And once I got a $ 70 round-trip ticket that left the same day. How crazy good airfare.

    Hopper’s interface

They also have offers for hotels and the like, but I didn’t really take advantage of them. But the flights are amazing. There are a number of features that are really nice.

    • Carrot Cash every time you book with them. Haven’t used it yet, but it looks like you can apply it when booking future trips.
    • Travel Profiles – You can set up multiple travelers with all of the rewards programs and popular travel IDs required to book a car, hotel, or airline
    • Last minute offers

But the ones I really like are …

    Price freeze

One feature I recently used is Price freeze. I found a $ 92 round trip for December to see my boyfriend, but I didn’t want to pay the money now. Hopper made me pay $ 39 for the flight and then I have 15 days to pay the difference. And if the airfare goes down, I can take advantage of the cheaper price. If the price goes up in those 15 days, they will cover up to $ 100.

This is the first time I’ve used the Price Freeze feature. I have until November 15th to book my flight or I will lose my deposit.

    Trip watch and price calendar

Two other features I like are the ability to watch the prices of different trips and get a bird’s eye view of the prices using a calendar. For the travel clock, enter the place of departure and destination and then receive price notifications. I think you need to enter dates here too.

The calendar is similar to the Southwest Airlines Low Fare Calendar in which you can see the prices for those days on a calendar.

I just can’t believe how cheap the airfare is! So it’s worth it and will be a life changing option for me if I can really travel the way I want to (in a few years in the future).

    Bare Bones Airlines

To be clear, the cheapest flights are airline barebones. My last trip was on Frontier. I was so desperate to get there that I booked and then read the reviews on this particular airline. To be honest after reading the reviews I was a little scared. But it wasn’t that bad. In a way, I preferred Frontier to other airlines.

They offer a much more varied flight service. It costs, but if you’re traveling in the middle of the night (and none of the airport amenities were open) it was nice to get a proper snack. I preferred their smaller tray table. It’s less than 1/2 the size of other airlines I’ve flown recently, but the first size for a drink and snack without taking my seat. And I didn’t find the “less padded” seats a problem and I felt like I had more width and legroom, and I’m a taller girl so that means a lot to me. (They have even bigger seats in the front, if you want to pay extra I don’t.)

The real downside is the baggage policy. You have to pay for anything but a handbag or a laptop. As if I had to pay for my backpack, which is hand luggage with every other airline. Luckily I’m a seasoned packer, so I packed my work bag with my 13-inch laptop and needed tech, a change of outfit and was ready to go. Apart from lipstick and toothbrush, I did not take any personal items with me. If I stayed longer than 2 days it wouldn’t have worked, but weekends are about as long as I can be away with a high school student at home for it to work.

    try it

I highly recommend giving Hopper a try if you have the travel bug like me. Be smart, but with some planning, travel expenses will go up. I booked my Price Freeze ticket with a more traditional airline because I was going to be taking Christmas presents and I knew I had to take some luggage. And got a notification that the flight is now down to $ 30 if I change airlines … after checking the cost of the luggage it wasn’t worth the change but it was nice to know this was an option.
