We all have a story (or two) to tell. You could make money.
Chicken soup for the soul takes on stories and poems to be included in upcoming books. If yours is selected, you will receive a check for $ 200.
In the early 1990s, two popular motivational speakers put together a book full of inspiring stories.
“They called it Chicken Soup for the Soul because they wanted it to soothe and calm it, just like their grandmothers’ kitchen,” the company’s website says.
The company eventually expanded its selection and has since published more than 250 titles within the Chicken Soup for the Soul book series, which have sold more than 500 million copies worldwide. Books focus on specific topics such as faith, parenting, and cats.

- Have a clear beginning, middle, and end.
- Create emotions in the reader.
- Come from the heart.
- Do not be longer than 1,200 words.

- It’s not about politics or anything controversial.

Guidelines for Chicken Soup for the Soul Poems
The guidelines for submitting poetry are a little more relaxed. Your poem should:
- Tell a story that will help the reader learn about your experience, but in poem form.
- Don’t focus on rhymes or sound like a greeting card.
Chicken soup for the soul only accepts stories and poems that have not yet been published.
How to submit your contribution
Submitting your post is very easy. Just fill out this online form, paste your story or poem in the correct box and hit the “Submit” button.
After submitting the form, you will see a confirmation message on your screen that the publisher has received your entry. That’s all there is to it!
Well not exactly. There is still something to be done, and it might be the hardest part.
Write your entry in a computer app like Google Docs that automatically saves your work, then paste it on the submission form so that your file is not lost if the browser unexpectedly exits.
It can take a long time for the publisher to contact you. The website says, “We get thousands of submissions for every book and we only have room for 101, so please don’t take our silence personally!”
Once your story or poem has been selected, you will receive an email asking for your express consent to the publication of your work.
You will receive 10 copies of the book and a check for $ 200 one month after it is published.
To share an experience, start your computer or pull out your notebook and get to work.
