    Believe it or not, it’s almost that time again – when school is out and there are lots of reading programs in the summer. Yay! (Well some of you might not say “yay!”, But we do because my kids LOVE them some summer reading programs!)

    Note: We recommend calling your local stores to see if they are participating in these programs this year.

    Free summer reading programs 2021

    Do your children like to read too? If so, this is our big list of all of the FREE Summer Reading Programs available nationally!

    Amazon – Children reading eight books this summer can take their list of books they have read to the nearest Amazon retail store for a Star Reader Certificate and choice of a free book.

    Barnes and Noble – Earn a free book on the Barnes & Noble Summer Reading Program for children in grades 1-6.

    1. Read eight books this summer and write them down in your Summer Reading Journal (PDF download). Tell them which part of the book is your favorite and why.
    2. Bring your completed journal to a Barnes & Noble store between July 1 and August 31, 2021.
    3. Select a FREE BOOK from the selection in the “Reading Journal” list in the store.

    Books-a-million – Read any four Summer Reading Adventure books in-store or online, write about them in your Summer Reading Adventure log, and receive a free Winn Dixie notepad and pen (while supplies last).

    Chuck E. Cheese – Kids can fill out their Reading Rewards Calendar by reading every day for two weeks and then exchange it for 10 FREE Game Points at your local Chuck E. Cheese location.

    Half-price books – Children up to 14 years of age can read 15 minutes a day for a total of at least 300 minutes. After that, they can take their completed reading log to their local store to earn bookworm dollars to spend. (They also have a summer reading program for teenagers.)

    HEB – Read ten books and write them down in your reading log to get a free t-shirt! When the log is complete, submit the form to the address provided and you will be rewarded with a special price. Note that one of the books read must be a Read 3 book.

    Pizza Hut Camp Book it – In addition to their annual school year program, Pizza Hut has a summer reading program this year called Camp Book it! Just keep track of your child’s reading in June, July and August. Once you’ve met your monthly reading goal, you can redeem a free personal pizza at Pizza Hut!

    Local libraries – Above all, don’t forget your local library! Most of them have fun summer reading programs with prizes and a lot more.
