Ice cream is a summer staple. The tune of an ice cream truck driving down the street brings back happy memories of being a kid, running to the ice cream truck and getting a bag of whipped soft, sweet goodness. Don’t forget about the chocolate flakes that are carefully popped into the side.

When the sun is beating down on you on a hot summer day, there’s nothing like enjoying a cold, refreshing ice cream. Whether you’re a fan of vanilla, raspberry ripple, or mint choc chips, the right flavor can be just the thing for you.

And now you can make money eating it … we don’t make that up!

    The opportunity

If your idea of heaven is to indulge in icy deserts, then we may know your dream job. July is National Ice Cream Month, and one lucky person with a sweet tooth is offered a staggering £ 1,000 to eat ice cream.

Yes, you heard that right – you could get paid to eat ice cream.

Unfortunately there is a catch. You need to get sugar free.

    Who are wheyhey?

Wheyhey is a naturally sugar-free ice cream brand founded in 2013. Their mission is to make delicious and delicious sugar-free ice cream with sustainable and high quality ingredients. There are currently eight delicious flavors to choose from – Salted Caramel, Chocolate and Hazelnut and Cinnamon Danish caught our eye.

Now, Wheyhey is looking for an ice cream-loving candidate to take part in a study that will focus on finding out if sugar addicts can achieve the same level of “snackisfaction” by replacing sugar-filled treats with delicious, sugar-free alternatives.

    Why Sugar Free?

It came after a survey of 2,000 adults found that nearly half of Britons (49%) are addicted to sweet, sugary treats and “cannot live without them”. Additionally, a whopping three-quarters of us tried to cut out sugary snacks entirely, but 30% admitted they could only make it three to five days before giving up and satisfying their cravings.

The NHS recently released statistics suggesting the average Briton eats a whopping 700 grams of sugar a week – that’s 140 teaspoons per person! This corresponds to an incredible 7,280 teaspoons a year. That means we are consuming 116,000 calories just for the love of sugar (based on 16 calories per teaspoon).

About 3% of those questioned managed to finally go without sugar. This is despite the known negative health effects when it comes to a high-sugar diet.

In 2020, 54 million liters more ice cream were consumed compared to previous years. Some brands of ice cream contain up to 15.2g of sugar in a 100ml serving (based on a sample of vanilla ice cream).

This justifies the current study. Wheyhey want to investigate whether they can satisfy the nations’ love for sugary goodness, starting with what they know best – ice cream.

    How to apply

Do you think you have what it takes?

To be eligible, you must be between 18 and 60 years old and not have any pre-existing health problems such as diabetes, obesity and hyperthyroidism. If you think the position is perfect for you, please visit LinkedIn to see where the position is currently being advertised.

The lucky candidate chosen will receive a variety of flavors from Wheyhey’s sugar-free range. They are then asked to note their satisfaction throughout the process, and the results are compared to satisfaction with consuming sugar-filled alternatives.

Wheyhey Founder Damien Kennedy says, “The main goal of wheyhey is to show the community that a healthy lifestyle doesn’t compromise on taste.” Damien prides itself on offering sugar-free, high-protein alternatives that make you feel delivering wonderful taste and texture for a UK that consumes far more sugar than it should. He continues, “It is important to us that the candidate we are recruiting for the case study is honest and informative so that we can continue to make the tastiest, sugar-free ice cream.”

Wheyhey hopes that both the study and its products will help thousands of Britons cut their sugar intake.
