Life has changed a lot lately – that goes without saying. On the one hand, we have got used to social distancing and working from home, even doctors who use telemedicine. Concerts, conferences, and other large gatherings have stopped, and reaching out to people in and outside of your industry is no longer as easy as it used to be.

As a result, one of the most important aspects of personal and business growth – networking – has almost become an afterthought. It’s understandable, but as we enter the second year of the pandemic it becomes clear that we need to find a new way to meet and connect with others.

It may not seem like people in medicine benefit from the power of networking as they do in business, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. I’ve seen a lot of great things coming out of meetings, conferences, and even social gatherings outside of the hospital.

In today’s post, we’re going to look at a few different (and very effective) ways you can further build your knowledge and experience through networking – even during a pandemic.

Use the current connections

If there’s one thing that can cause relationships to fade, it’s a global pandemic. Yes, technology has made video chat easier, but it’s difficult to replace the daily connections that we used to take for granted.

If you (understandably) leave certain links behind, I would definitely encourage you to make fresh efforts to reform those links. Whether with your co-workers, fellow investors, or even an online forum, maintaining these professional relationships can be of great benefit.

Being a little more active in finding these relationships will put you in a state of mind that you may have forgotten. You will likely find new ventures and opportunities falling straight into your lap. Of course, that’s not really the case – it’s just the power of networking.

Use social media (Facebook groups, LinkedIn)

This may seem obvious, but there are a few different ways you can use social media that you may have considered by now. For one, social media is one of the best ways to reconnect with the people we may have lost touch with (as I mentioned in the previous section).

But these days there are tons of opportunities just waiting to be found. No matter what area you are in or what side business you are in, I would really appreciate it. maximum recommend joining some Facebook groups. It’s the perfect place to meet new people, ask and answer questions, and in general, hang out with like-minded people trying to figure out how to make their ideal life.

You can also make professional connections on other sites like LinkedIn. It is easy enough to find and communicate with others, and it can be a powerful tool for networking.

Another one you might not have considered? Believe it or not: Instagram. All you really have to do is follow a few accounts that you like (look for specific hashtags, such as “passive income” or “real estate investments”) and post what you’re interested in. Instagram now also has roles that are shown to a lot of people outside of your own friends list. This can be a great way to meet new people and it worked really well for me.

In all honesty, every social media platform has plenty of options just waiting for you. Trust me there are Like-minded people out there – even on TikTok.

Participate in virtual conferences (inspiration, motivation, practical strategies, curated content)

By far the most effective route to the network I’ve found is from Participation in conferences. Unfortunately, face-to-face conferences aren’t really a thing anymore (at least not for the time being), and I’ve missed meeting new people, learning new things, and generally being with people who want the same things that I do.

Fortunately, this is where modern technology tenses its muscles. With online video conferencing, you can really bring the next best thing to a face-to-face meeting. This also removes the obstacle most people face when attending a conference: taking time off from work for long periods of time. Now you can meet new people from the comfort of your living room!

Honestly, while I hope in-person meetings come back sooner rather than later, I’ve found that the ones hosted online are even better in some ways. Not only do you have to travel, but you also save money on expenses. For these reasons, even more people can attend, which means you can meet and learn from more people than a physical conference room could provide.

It really doesn’t matter what you’re interested in – there’s probably a conference for that. They are great for meeting people, learning, and ultimately staying motivated.
