With so many new and unexpected things going on in our lives lately, Jesse and I chat about how to keep positive attitudes during difficult times of the year.
One of the most important things for me is to focus on how much God loves me. Remembering and resting in his love and loyalty changes my view of life. It is also very helpful to start my day by praying about my day and handing my fears and worries over to the Lord.
I also try to delve into the truth and cast out all lies as they invade my brain and heart. It’s exactly what Jon Acuff talked about and curated about in our last episode Soundtracks in my brain. This was very helpful in those times to share light and life.
Recently, choosing an attitude of gratitude has had such an impact. If I want to feel frustrated by a situation, stop instead and say, “What can I be grateful for?”
Listen to hear all six of my recommendations for maintaining a positive attitude during difficult times, or even just during times when you are fidgeting with joy in your everyday life.
In this episode:
[00:33] My voice barely hangs on allergies and hospitalizations with Baby D.
[01:44] Jesse and I saw a movie together recently – something we haven’t done in a while!
[04:43] Jack Carr brought out a new book and Jesse is reading it now.
[05:58] I read The simple difference by Becky Keife.
[07:56] When I bring life and light to every interaction, I am saving my life.
[09:53] Why we spent so much time in the hospital these days.
[12:02] The hospital system’s app and centralized portal saved Jesse’s life.
[13:02] How to maintain a positive attitude during difficult times of the year.
[13:35] One of the things that help me the most is remembering how much God loves me.
[15:38] It is also important to me to start my day with prayer and invite God into the inner workings of my day.
[17:10] I also immerse myself in the truth and shout out lies as they invade my brain and heart.
[19:56] I choose an attitude of gratitude.
[22:26] Look for the things that you are grateful for and you will find them.
[24:25] What is Jesse doing to refuel and take refuge?
[27:02] Social calm is also very important to me and helps me to recharge my batteries, so I need time with others.
[28:07] I also use torch-lit prayers when I have overwhelming moments.
