When Jesse and I discussed what topic to cover this week’s episode, I said something about the implications of, “Well, I’ve talked about it on nearly 60 other podcasts, radio shows, and television shows Love centered parenting, but I haven’t really looked into the subject in my own podcast yet. Maybe that would be a good topic for this week’s episode?
If you’ve been considering getting a copy of my new book, Love-Centered Parenting, but were wondering if it would suit you, be sure to check out this week’s episode. I share more about how often feelings of guilt and stress arise as a burden from misunderstandings about our work as parents. I also dive into the main flesh of the book, speaking about the four choices I think every parent should make – lean on and love, listen carefully, lead with humility, and let go.
We also talk about how our emergency fund has been such a boon lately, how we saved a lot of money replacing our HVAC units, and a class I recently completed.
In this episode:
[00:33] We talk all around Love-centered parenting today!
[01:51] An emergency fund is saving our lives this week.
[04:39] Getting a second offer also saved us as it was significantly less than the first.
[06:33] Jesse is still reading the same book as he was last week. I took the Heaven and Earth Bible Project seminar class and it was so good.
[10:17] We deal intensively with the content of Love-centered parenting today.
[11:55] We can’t save our children, so we need to stop carrying this burden.
[13:08] It is not our job as parents to get our children to make good decisions.
[14:10] The Four Choices Parents Should Make, and the book’s overall premise.
[15:01] Jesse’s thoughts on “lean on and love”.
[17:07] Is there pride, fear, or selfishness as a reason for your reaction to your children’s behavior?
[18:25] Why do you need to listen carefully.
[21:26] Finding the root cause of the behavior is very important.
[22:49] It is also important to lead with humility.
[25:51] In the end, we just have to let go.
[27:31] Why This Is Really The No Fail Parenting Guide.
