#MyFreedomDebtStory: the story, the competition and the winners

Although many people say «good release!» Until 2020 there were some bright spots here at Freedom in a turbulent year. For many Freedom Debt Relief (FDR) program graduates, 2020 was the year they paid off their enrolled debt and headed for a better financial future.

As VP of Brand at Freedom, I hear many inspiring stories from customers whose lives have been positively impacted by our debt relief program. I thought it was time to share our customers’ stories more widely. We recently invited Freedom Debt Relief graduates to submit videos of their experiences in the FDR program, and five lucky winners each won $ 5,000 to help them achieve their next financial goal.

The competition

The goal of the # MyFreedomDebtStory video contest was to hear real stories from actual customers who recently completed the Freedom Debt Relief program. We invited qualified customers to submit their video and verified that each submission was from a real customer.

Each qualifying video was rated by our jury on the basis of a specific set of criteria and an objective point system. We searched for …:

  • How well the client told their story, including their experience with at least three specific aspects of the program
  • The real feel and tone of the video
  • Video production and quality

We were blown away by the amazing stories we received! In fact, we had so many wonderful submissions that we couldn’t stop with just five winners, and we decided to give away five more submissions with a prize of $ 1,000 each.

Without further ado, you can watch our winners’ video here and read more of their stories below.

These Freedom Debt Relief graduates were selected for the authenticity of their videos, the power of their stories, and the good description of their personal experiences on the FDR program. *

David F.David F. – «Freedom Debt Relief was the right choice for me.»

As the director of design and production in Lancaster, PA, David struggled with $ 45,000 in debt and simply wasn’t making enough money to pay his bills. When he reached out to FDR, he found that we had combined his debt payments into one monthly deposit and had everything clearly explained. «They really just wanted to help me and that was what I needed, I needed someone to have my back.»

Ariel C.Ariel C. – «Do it!»

Ariel, a teacher from Tampa, FL, was about $ 20,000 in debt. Their minimum payments were nearly $ 1,000 per month, and by enrolling in the FDR program, their monthly payment in the program account became significantly less. «I was also able to learn how to live without a credit card, which was huge for me.»

Oscar T.Oscar T. – «This is a very proud moment for me.»

“Sometimes we all come on stage where we just need a little help. And the help never stops for the entire four years, ”says Oscar, an architect from New York City. He recently completed his four-year FDR program and felt right from the start with the tools he needed to tackle the debt resolution challenge.

Amanda S.Amanda S. – «You saved my sanity.»

Amanda, a 21-year-old care manager for children suffering from crisis and trauma, was embroiled in her own financial crisis when she discovered the FDR program three years ago. She says she was only in «bad mental state» because of her debts. But the help she got from the FDR calmed her down. “Whenever I was worried or confused about something, there was an agent to help me… I had believers harassing me, and I felt like you were my therapists and counselors. That made everything better. «

Paul Q.Paul Q. – «It changed our lives.»

Paul works on a bison farm in New Mexico and had financial difficulties a few years ago. Medical bills and other debts piled up and his income couldn’t keep up. He graduated in October 2020. “As tough a year as it was with COVID, this has been one of the greatest blessings in our lives. Freedom Debt Relief has been absolutely helpful every step of the way. «

We couldn’t help but recognize these moving customer stories …

Geralene S.Geralene S. – «I can live the rest of my life with no weight off my shoulders.»

At the age of 17, Geralene was diagnosed with a health condition that resulted in her running into heavy medical debts in her twenties. She enrolled $ 40,000 in the Freedom Debt Relief program, and removing that burden made her dream a reality. “Now I can work for myself as a children’s book author, which I always wanted to do, and I never thought it would be possible. Thank you Freedom Financial! «

Osvaldo (Ozzy) S.Ozzy S. – «It helped me and it can help you.»

Osvaldo is a NYC transit bus operator who lives on Staten Island, New York. He came to Freedom Debt Relief thinking bankruptcy was his only option to pay off his debt. He could only afford minimum payments on his credit cards and that got him nowhere. In the FDR program, he not only repaid his debts, but also early on. “Best of all … aside from paying off my debts, my savings account grew. I was able to speed up my graduation date. «

Jamie G.Jamie G. – «I’m more confident about building my future.»

A freelancer from Hanover, Michigan, Jamie didn’t always have a steady income when she started freelancing and used credit cards to get by. At first she was nervous about the impact on her creditworthiness, but her score was already low due to the size of her debt, so she wrote nearly $ 24,000 in debt. Twenty-seven months later, she is happy with the results. “Since graduating, I’ve seen my credit improve. Now in my 30s, I am more confident about building my future knowing that I am facing all of this debt. «

Amanda A.Amanda (Mandy) A. – «You were 100% my partner.»

Mandy is a registered nurse from Cincinnati, Ohio who enrolled $ 30,000 and graduated in October 2020 after three years on the FDR program. She reports that her credit rating increased after the program, but more importantly, she got out of the cycle of unsustainable debt and late fees. “The FDR helped me reset my financial ideas. I am now much more stable in dealing with financial matters. «

Keiara G.Keiara G. – «It saved my life.»

As the administrative coordinator for the city of Flint, Michigan, Keiara celebrated her graduation from the FDR program in October 2020. Years earlier, however, she suffered from postpartum depression and unemployment, and this dark period in her life left her deeply in debt. She stumbled upon Freedom Debt Relief online and it was the lifeline that she needed. «I had over $ 10,000 in debt. To get to a place where I am free from it and can happily go on with my life, I feel a release that I have never felt before.»
