Publix, a Florida-based grocery chain with more than 1,280 stores in seven southeastern states, plans to hire 30,000 employees by the end of 2021.
The popular supermarket chain says its fourth quarter hiring campaign includes positions in its stores, distribution centers and manufacturing facilities. The company has not set the starting salary or the salary range for new positions. A search of the company’s career portal, jobs.publix.com, found a select position in the Orlando warehouse – pulling products for business – with a base salary of $ 20.80 to $ 30 an hour.
Lots of companies try to replenish their workforce before the holidays, but Publix is part of a growing trend of companies hiring mostly permanent, non-seasonal workers this year. Large retailers like Amazon and Walmart recently announced hundreds of thousands of new non-seasonal roles for those interested in an appearance that could last through 2022 and beyond.
“As we continue to grow, it is critical to have a dedicated team ready to meet our needs,” said Marcy Benton, Vice President of Human Resources at Publix, in a recruitment announcement.
Permanent positions at Publix include some attractive perks, including:
- Employee participation plan that donates Publix shares to employees free of charge every year.
- Annual vacation bonuses.
- 401 (k) with a company match.
- Group Health Plan (with Prescription Services), Dental Plan, and Vision Plan.
- Tuition reimbursement.
Publix encourages but does not require that new employees be vaccinated against COVID-19. Employees who receive the vaccine can receive a Publix gift card valued at $ 125.
Many corporate roles – including systems analysts, software engineers, and marketing developers – are based at the company’s headquarters in Lakeland, Florida. You can search for jobs by entering your city or zip code. You can also search jobs that match your LinkedIn profile.

Job seekers interested in an hourly position in a Publix store can find out about vacancies and apply online through the company’s Talent Application Gateway.
According to Supermarket Business, Publix is one of the fastest growing conventional supermarket operators in the United States. In September, Publix announced that it would continue to expand its reach by opening stores in Kentucky through 2023.
