T3 consultant conference postponed | Asset management

In a 100-word note distributed Thursday evening, the organizers of the popular T3 Advisor technology conferences announced that the 2021 meeting would be postponed to an as-yet-unspecified date in the spring of 2022.

Joel Brückenstein, the conference owner and founder and longtime advisor to technology guru, said the decision could not be bypassed.

«I try to do the right thing for my constituents, both for the participants and for the sponsors,» said Bruckenstein. “We did that [conference] For 20 years and I’m not going to do anything wrong and we just couldn’t wait another two or three weeks to make that decision. «

He reiterated the point that the conference was not canceled, only postponed for six months.

«Hopefully we’ll set another date in the coming weeks,» he added.

It was the combination of several aspects that contributed to the decision, he said. Among them were sponsors and exhibitors who announced that some of their employees had raised concerns about travel. These workers, who are mostly vaccinated but have younger children, were more concerned about bringing the virus home to their families as a vector (vaccines have not yet been approved for children under the age of 12).

In addition, some companies reintroduced travel restrictions, he said. This week, CDC officials also voiced concern in national media that Delta variant cases, and with it, hospital admissions, would likely continue to increase rapidly in the coming weeks.

From a business point of view, Bruckenstein has the greatest sympathy for the sponsors and exhibitors who wanted to make important announcements during the conference. He also tried to dispel rumors that the conference had been postponed due to fewer than expected attendees among the advisors.

«We announced at the time that we were on the right track to have as many advisors as in previous years,» he said. «There are always a handful of haters in any crowd.»

The decision also seems to have support from industry leaders and talking heads. A Tweet from Michael Kitces became widespread on Thursday night saying he supported the decision.

Similarly, Riskalyze CEO Aaron Klein expressed his support in a statement emailed.

«We are very pleased to be able to support the return of the T3 conference next spring,» said Klein.

When asked about his own conference, Klein replied that the company was «grateful that California’s recently released public health guidelines show us a smooth path to the Fearless Investing Summit in 40 days.» This conference is scheduled to take place from September 29th to October 1st.

This is the second time the T3 conference has not taken place as it was canceled or restored as virtual affairs along with numerous other consultant-related conferences in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
