Michael and I met a few weeks ago at the 10X Sales Execution Workshop in Miami in Grant Cardone’s office. He’s really a good and real expert on finance.

Michael enjoys breaking down the walls of financial challenges and helping people understand what it means to get into and as an entrepreneur. Michael shares his financial wisdom with us; You’ll love what he has to say so read on!

    Meet Michael Anthony

Michael’s mother grew up in Indianapolis and was a drug addict and alcoholic. “She actually cut off my right index finger when I was only four years old. So that gives you a baseline. “

His biological father spent most of his childhood homeless or impoverished. His family was impoverished, and by the time he was 13 Michael got high and drunk. Eventually he was expelled from school at 15.

“I ran on drugs and sold guns.” The solution to poverty was money. “This is what happens when you grow up in an environment that is not conducive to living.” In his late teens, he wanted to find a way to make money legally after many of his best friends had been murdered. “I just knew that if I continued down this path it would not end well. So I said, at 21, I want to make a hundred thousand dollars a year – legally. “

He got a job at a Fortune 10 company with no high school degree. They handed him his high school diploma. His first paycheck was $ 10,000. A few years later he built up his second legal business. A few years later he was at 350 pounds, smoking two packs of cigarettes a day and drinking. “I put a gun in my mouth because I didn’t understand the effects of the abuse I went through.”

Although there has been so much chaos in his life, he has also experienced good things which lead to his why. “What I am doing now is influencing people’s lives and helping them understand that they can be the hero of their own story.”

How trauma plays into decision making

Trauma can motivate you because you are trying to move into a new life through the bad experiences. Many want to make big bucks just to climb out of a hole and are broke.

Michael says, “The thing about trauma that needs to be understood is that we don’t just understand money and finance that way. The money mindset that is shaped by youth and society tells us that we should be ashamed of money. “

Adding the trauma we find ourselves in in this fight-or-flight response and the state of cortisol in the sympathetic nervous system to societal beliefs creates a survival and poverty mentality. “Tell me how someone can be successful with money when you fight both?”

    Change your money mindset

Michael now has a healthier view of money. He understands that money is a resource and a tool. Money can be used to operate, support, and build your platform. You can also invest in yourself and use money as a conduit for your own growth.

While you can use the money to serve yourself and others, you also want to be safe and protect yourself by having a savings cushion in the bank. Outside of your expenses, use your “extra” cash that is best suited to investing. “You take your resources and invest in yourself and you will never lose.” Michael invests more money in himself than those who graduate from the Ivy League. He understands the value of reciprocity by spending money and betting on himself first.

    Steps to Overcome Trauma

From his experience, Michael says that the first step in overcoming trauma is recognition. Since we cannot hide from the truth, you will have to deal with your trauma or you will most likely go down a negative path with harmful, dangerous and unhealthy habits.

With recognition comes freedom. “For the first time I was able to free myself from the constructs and handcuffs of the past. Although I moved freely in the world, it was as if my leg was still chained to the block, ”which for Michael is the reason why he made no progress because he was too afraid to be vulnerable to himself .

“You have to look in the mirror and see that bad things have happened and that it’s not your fault.”

However, you need to understand from that moment; You have to do the work to free yourself from the cycle of trauma and emotional chains that keep you from moving forward on the life path and reaching who you really are and are supposed to be in life. “Once you acknowledge your past, you need to learn, grow, change, and heal. Support yourself by building a community, finding your tribe and educating yourself. “

He remembers the moment of truth when he stood in front of the bathroom mirror. He asked himself, “What are you ready to do? Your life is a bloody disaster. What are you going to do about it? “Twelve years later, Michael is here, speaking to us, advising us on finance.” I’ve built multimillion-dollar businesses. I can still learn something. And the moment you think , you know, it’s all over. “

    Attract people who love change

Whatever you do, there will be people who want to pull you down. There will be people who want you to take them with you on your journey. You can not. It’s the crab-in-a-bucket mentality.

It would be best if you circumcised the people who bring you down in life. People will try to pull you down, get in your way. You can’t save anyone, so don’t waste your time on it. If someone wants a different lifestyle, they have to invest time and money in themselves and want to change in order for their life to change effectively.

You can only make your tribe happy

Michael realizes that you can’t always make everyone happy. “I’m not there for people who don’t want my message. But I will serve and emerge anyway. You have to serve the people who are here. Remind yourself every day that you are not living up to your power and what you have to offer the world because you are afraid of what a motherfucker has to say on Instagram or the boyfriend wants to pull you down.

    Put action behind your words

“Your financial success begins with action. What you think becomes what you say, what you say becomes what you do. Your actions become your reality. This process starts in your head. You tell yourself that you are capable. “

I am strong. I am able. I am good enough. I am the kind of person that shows up for me. I am the kind of person who serves the world. I am the type of person who leads with love. The action starts with the way you think. Change only happens when you make change.

Find your clarity, mission, and purpose

You need to understand why you’re doing something, start with your why, and let your community know why you might not be available. Michaels why? “I want to end generational trauma in my life and empower people to be the hero of their own story, be it on the trauma side of coaching or the business side of coaching.” Purpose matters because your purpose should evolve as you grow .

“You need to start putting yourself in these positions of learning and changing the narrative of understanding you have about who you are and what you are capable of.” However, make sure that you are responsible for yourself first are before you bring your purpose and why into the world.

    Commitment to your cause

Commitment is also the key to your success.

“You have to decide, are you in or are you out?”

Nobody is going to do the work to make your dreams come true. You have to get involved because on days that are not going so well; You need to remind yourself of this and re-commit to your why.

    Work-life balance

Even if you have a why, make sure you balance your work and life so as not to burn out.

“You have to be honest with yourself.”

Make sure to take a break when needed and get out of emotionally intense environments to avoid overwork.
